1. Why did you start blogging?
For a long time, we've wanted to start our own fashion blog. We've read so many others, but felt that we could bring something unique to the blogosphere. Our passion for living on a shoestring budget is the seed from which all our posts sprouts. Many blogs review products and style clothing well out of the everyday girl's budget. Starting M + K has given us the opportunity to combine all our loves of fashion, beauty, photography and DIY projects while spreading our frugal fashion philosophy. As twins, we've always been close, and as corny as it sounds, being able to work with your bestie is the icing on the cake!!

2. What is your most worn item of clothing in your closets/wardrobe?
M: Our black skater skirt for sure!! It is such a versatile piece that ups the chic status of any outfit!
K: We are big on all basics like jeans, plain t-shirts and black skirts. They are extremely versatile pieces that can been worn in infinite ways. All you need is some smart accessorising to style them up or down, and you're set for any and every occasion!

3. What is your best bargain in your closets?
We  have a snakeskin print skirt from the Australian brand Witchery which we bought for less than 5% of its original price!! It was originally $149.95, and it was a steal at $6.97! We love a great bargain (what girl doesn't?!) :)

4. What brand is taking over your closets?
We usually shop where the bargains are and more importantly we look for pieces we like (not just their label) so there is no one brand that really dominates our wardrobes. But some brands/stores that we think are en pointe with their range at the moment are Paper Scissors, Temt and Portmans.

5. How would you style a simple black mini dress for a Saturday night out with friends?
Dress up the classic LBD with sleek accessories. For a night out with friends, we would opt for a big conversation-starting statement necklace which is showy yet effortless, and our fanciest (and comfiest) wedges so we can whip out our best dance moves without the pain of high heel hangover.

6. What brand of make-up could you not live without?
K: Keeping with our frugal philosophy, the majority of the products we buy are from the drugstore. We've discovered some holy grail products from drugstore brands which will give any high-end brand a run for their money .We can't go past Revlon when it comes to nail polishes or lip products. There is just something about their Lip Butters that we can't get enough of!
M: I'm all about eyelashes, so let's not forget Maybelline and their amazing mascaras. We've been impressed with all the mascaras we've tried from their range so far, particularly the Colossal Cat Eyes mascara, and we're eager to get our hands on The Rocket once it hits Australian stores!

7. What are some of your favourite fashion magazines and/or books?
We don't read fashion magazines/books regularly, although when we do, we like flipping through Grazia or Shop Til You Drop. Instead, we can spend hours scrolling through pins on Pinterest for style inspiration, adding to our Dream Wardrobe board!

8. Have you bought anything in the winter sales yet?
It's actually summer in Australia (Our sweltering weather is definitely far from the white Christmases a lot of people are used to!). Boxing Day and post-Christmas sales are a big thing here. However, we've been pretty unlucky in the fashion stakes so far. We did manage to pick up a few books and pieces of jewellery on sale the other day. Fingers crossed we'll be able to snag some fashion bargains next time we hit the stores!!

9. Have you made a new years resolutions?
Every year we make the same resoltuions, and this year is no different. We're starting 2014 by resolving to stay fit and healthy, and acing uni!
But since starting M + K last year, we have a new resolution to add to the list, and that is to continue to grow or blog following and to maintain a successful blog.

10. Who is your biggest inspiration?
When it comes to fashion there are a number of celebrities who inspire our wardrobe, but we have to be a little biased here and say that our fellow Aussie Miranda Kerr is our favourite with her chic street and red carpet style.

But of course, our biggest inspirations in life are our mummy and daddy! With our humble upbringing, they've instilled in us the value of self belief, diligence and perseverance. We hope we've made them proud with what we have achieved so far.

thank you so much for letting me interview you and it helped me and my followers get to know you better!

hope you liked this, i have never done an interview before and i enjoyed it, hope you did too! let me know in the comments what you thought and whether i should do more?

if you would like to be interviewed contact me and i will let you know soon with the questions

How to have a perfectly styled hair whilst asleep

This is a real hard problem for me as I have wavy frizzy hair, so when I straighten it and I go to sleep, the next morning it's wavy and frizzy!

Here are a few tips on keeping your hair perfect for the next day:

🌟 Your best bet will be to try and allow your hair to be laid as flat as possible while you sleep.

🌟 Try sleeping with your hair arrayed around you on the pillow, so that the upper layers are less “mussed” by sleeping

🌟 Or perhaps you can use a neck pillow and position yourself so that your hair can hang over the end of the bed.
Neither of these is a very good solution, particularly if you have a tendency to toss and turn in your sleep - like I do!

🌟 Marilyn Monroe and Bette Davis were famous for using satin pillowcases for their skin and hair. The cool fabric keeps your scalp from getting hot. Both satin and tightly woven silk (a natural fiber) pillowcases work to keep your hair from creasing and gaining static.
🌟 Loose braids and buns are the smartest way to save grooming time in the morning, and they keep strands from developing unwanted kinks and frizz.
🌟 A loose bun helps keep a beach wave, even in stick-straight hair. For perfect waves, avoid tying ends too tightly with an elastic, otherwise you’ll see a noticeable crease in the morning.
🌟 If you tend to lie on your side, your hair can end up unevenly volumized. It only takes a second to blast  your roots with the blow-dryer to even things up. Hair tends to become oilier while you sleep, a blast of dry shampoo before heat styling.
hope this has helped you!xx
